Preparations are underway for the sixth Iceland Geothermal Conference (IGC2027), which will take place in Harpa on 25–27 May 2027. HS Orka will serve as the Platinum Partner, making the company the main sponsor of the conference.
Over the years, IGC has established itself as one of the world’s most important events for education, innovation, and business in geothermal energy and related fields. The conference is organized by the Icelandic Energy Cluster and was first held in 2010.
Strengthening International Collaboration and Interest in Geothermal Development
The Platinum Partnership agreement was signed last week in Svartsengi by Tómas Már Sigurðsson, CEO of HS Orka, and Rósbjörg Jónsdóttir, Managing Director of the Icelandic Energy Cluster. Through this partnership, HS Orka further supports the Cluster’s mission to strengthen international cooperation and increase global interest in geothermal development as part of climate solutions and the sustainable energy systems of the future.
On the Cluster’s website, it states:
“Geothermal energy plays a key role in sustainable energy production and the climate solutions of the future. Iceland has demonstrated how geothermal utilization can create clean electricity, secure heating systems, food production, and new industrial opportunities. In doing so, Icelanders have contributed to social welfare and global sustainability.
The Iceland Geothermal Conference is one of the cornerstones of the Cluster’s work. Its main goal is to strengthen knowledge and understanding, create business opportunities across the geothermal value chain, and highlight the diverse opportunities geothermal energy offers — for communities, industry, and the environment.”
An Important Platform for Collaboration
The Icelandic Energy Cluster is a cross‑disciplinary, industry‑driven collaboration platform connecting companies, institutions, government bodies, and the scientific community working in or alongside the Icelandic energy sector. Member organizations span the entire renewable‑energy value chain. The Cluster’s primary purpose is to enhance competitiveness and societal value through targeted actions that promote innovation and increase value creation in renewable energy.
More detailed information about the conference — including updates as the program develops — can be found on the IGC website.
