Múlavirkjun Á Snæfellsnesi

HS Orka owns and operates the Múlavirkjun hydropower plant in Eyja- og Miklaholtshreppur on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The plant was formally commissioned in November 2005 and has an installed capacity of 3.2 MW.

HS Orka purchased Múlavirkjun in the summer of 2026, though the company has managed all of the plant's production from the outset and has likewise purchased all of the energy generated by it.

Múlavirkjun channels water drawn from the headwaters of the Straumfjarðará river, where it flows out of lake Baulárvallavatn and lake Hraunsfjarðarvatn.
