Two new divisions have been established within HS Orka: a Sustainability and Supply Chain Division, and a Resources Division. These changes took effect at the turn of the year. In addition, a new Executive Director will take over the Development and Construction Division in March.
Finnur Sveinsson has been appointed Executive Director of the newly formed Sustainability and Supply Chain Division. For the past four years, he has led the company’s Sustainability Department as well as overseeing commercial management of new projects. The new division underscores the growing importance of sustainability within HS Orka.
Lilja Magnúsdóttir has been appointed Executive Director of Resources. Ásbjörn Blöndal, who has served as Executive Director of the Development and Resources Division for many years, will step down later this year due to retirement. Lilja has led HS Orka’s Resource Management Department for the past two years.
On 1 March, Yngvi Guðmundsson will take over as Executive Director of Development and Construction from Sunna Björg Helgadóttir, who has been appointed CEO of Rio Tinto (ISAL) in Iceland. Yngvi is HS Orka’s Chief Engineer, a role he has held since 2017, and he has extensive knowledge of all aspects of the company’s operations.
